اسرائيل لم توافق على اطلاق 125 أسير طالبت بهم حماس

وتنشر الصحيفة نقلا عن كبير مفاوضي حماس اسامة المزيني قوله للصحفيين يوم الاربعاء ان اسرائيل غير مستعدة للافراج عن 125 من الأسرى الذين طلبت حماس بالافراج عنهم ، وأن هذا هو ما يعطل صفقة الافراج عن الجندي الاسرائيلي الذي تم أسره، غلعاد شاليط.

وتطالب حماس بالافراج عن 1،450 أسير فلسطيني في مقابل عودة الجندي الاسرائيلي، بما في ذلك 450 من ذوي الأحكام العالية والذي تصفهم إسرائيل بــ"أيديهم ملطخة بالدماء".

وتقارن الصحيفة بين تصريحات المزيني الحالية وتصريحاته السابقة فتجد أن جهود اقرار الصفقة في المرات السابقة قد فشلت لنفس الأسباب التي ذكرها المزيني هذه المرة أيضاً.

قبل لقاءها وزراء الخارجية العرب، هيلاري تزور اسرائيل

ترجمة من مواقع اسرائيلية - وزيرة الخارجية الامريكية هيلاري كلينتون تعود لاسرائيل مساء يوم السبت فى زيارة سريعة قبل الانتقال الى لقاء في المغرب مع وزراء الخارجية العرب. كما سيرافقها في القمة العربية الاميركية مبعوث الولايات المتحدة لشؤون الشرق الاوسط،جورج ميتشل ، الذي من المتوقع ان يصل الى اسرائيل قبل يوم من زيارة كلينتون.

ومن المتوقع ان تستأنس هيلاري كلينتون بالرؤية الاسرائيلية للتعرف على سبل دعم رئيس السلطة الفلسطينية محمود عباس وذلك قبل الانتخابات المقرر إجراؤها على أراض السلطة الفلسطينية في يناير 2010. وكان عباس قد هدد بالاستقالة عدة مرات في اتصالاته مع الرئيس الامريكي باراك اوباما على مدى الاسابيع القليلة الماضية بسبب ان اسرائيل تواصل تضييق الخناق على الفلسطينيين ولم تتوقف عن البناء في المستوطنات اليهودية بالضفة الغربية المحتلة.

تقرير غولدستون، اذا تم اقراره سيتم تحويله لمحكمة الجنايات الدولية

ترجمة من مواقع اسرائيلية - تقرير غولدستون سيعرض للمناقشة في الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة الأسبوع المقبل.بناء على طلب من ممثلي الدول العربية الأعضاء المناقشة ، تم تعيين 4 نوفمبر لمناقشة التقرير في الجمعية العامة. وفي حال صادقت الجمعية العامة للأمم على التقرير فمن الممكن إحالته إلى المحكمة الجنائية الدولية في لاهاي لاستخدامه في المحكمة كدليل ضد دولة إسرائيل و قوات الجيش الإسرائيلي والزعماء السياسيين.

ويتهم التقرير اسرائيل بارتكاب جرائم حرب خلال عملية الرصاص المصبوب في الشتاء الماضي ديسمبر 2008 - يناير 2009. وورد في التقرير أن تلك الجرائم قد تصل حد جرائم ضد الانسانية.

كما ورد في التقرير أن منظمة حماس قد تكون قد اقترفت جرائم حرب وذلك باطلاق الصواريخ وقذائف الهاون على اسرائيل .

ست سنوات سجن على مرشح عمدة القدس السابق

ترجمة من مواقع اسرائيلية -أصدرت محكمة فرنسية حكما غيابيا على الاسرائيلي اليهودي المرشح السابق لمنصب عمدة القدس لمدة ست سنوات في السجن. رجل الاعمال الثرى أركادي غايدماك الروسي الأصل أدين بتهم الرشوة والتهرب من دفع الضرائب والاحتيال والتزوير في قضية بيع أسلحة غير مشروعة لحكومة أنغولا بقيمة 790 مليون دولار خلال الحرب الأهلية في تلك البلاد ، انتهت في عام 2002.

في تلك النزاعات الأفريقية أصيب ما لا يقل عن نصف مليون شخص وتشرد الملايين.

ويزعم غايدماك وشريكه الفرنسي تاجر السلاح بيار فالكون الذي حكم عليه أيضا بالسجن لمدة ست سنوات أنهما قد حصلا على حقوق للتنقيب عن النفط في مقابل عقد صفقات لبيع الأسلحة وعقد اتصالات مع سياسيين.

اجتماع وزراء البيئة العرب سيقر إطلاق قمر صناعي لمراقبة الكوارث الطبيعية

كشف الأمير تركي بن ناصر الرئيس العام للأرصاد وحماية البيئة ورئيس المكتب التنفيذي لمجلس الوزراء العرب المسؤولين عن البيئة، أن اجتماع الدورة الاستثنائية لمجلس الوزراء العرب المسؤولين عن البيئة الذي سيعقد اليوم في مقر الأمانة العامة لجامعة الدول العربية في القاهرة سيقر إطلاق قمر صناعي خاص برصد ومراقبة الكوارث الطبيعية في الدول العربية تشمل الزلازل والبراكين.
وأبان الأمير تركي أننا سنقترح خلال الاجتماع ترجمة جميع الخطط والاستراتيجيات البيئية للحد من الكوارث إلى آليات إقليمية واضحة والخروج منها بدراسات وتوصيات لعرضها على الوزراء.
وسيناقش الاجتماع متابعة تنفيذ تكليفات قمة الكويت "القمة العربية الاقتصادية والتنموية والاجتماعية" بشأن البيئة، وخاصة ما جاء في إعلان الكويت الذي تضمن نصه المتعلق بالبيئة "التوجيه باتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة للمحافظة على البيئة والموارد الطبيعية، والاستخدام الأمثل لها لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة، واعتبار ذلك ركنا أساسيا في جميع المجالات التنموية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لتحسين نوعية حياة المواطن، والعمل على الحد من أثر التغيرات المناخية وتداعياتها في المجتمعات العربية".

Al Jazeera wins Best Digital News Channel at Freesat Awards

Al Jazeera English today announced that it has won the Freesat Award for the 'Best Digital News Channel'.
The award recognizes Al Jazeera English as the station which the Freesat judges would 'turn to when a big story breaks'. The award also honors Al Jazeera English for being a channel with a trusted viewpoint and for going beyond just reporting the headlines.
Freesat judges also based the award on Al Jazeera English's breadth of news coverage, innovative programme formats, cutting edge coverage of the big stories, and relevance to viewers.
The Freesat awards, the first to be held by the free-to-air satellite TV service, took place last night in London and recognized the best in digital TV and TV-related industries.

روسيا تطلق قمرا صناعيا جديدا له استخدامات سلمية وعسكرية

وضعت روسيا يوم أمس الجمعة قمرا صناعيا جديدا في المدار الخاص به في الفضاء.
وذكرت وكالة الأنباء الروسية نوفوستي أن صاروخ سيوز-2 وضع قمر يريديان في الموقع المداري الخاص به انطلاقا من قاعدة بليسيتسك الفضائية في شمال شطر روسيا الأوروبي.
وقال قائد القوات الفضائية الروسية الجنرال أوليغ أوستابينكو للصحفيين إن روسيا ستستمر في إطلاق المزيد من الأقمار الصناعية المطلوبة للقوات الفضائية.
وأوضح أن الاتصال مع القمر ثابت والأنظمة فيه تعمل بشكل سليم.
وينتمي قمر ميريديان إلى جيل جديد من الأقمار الصناعية يمكن أن يكون له استخدام مزدوج سلمي وعسكري. وصنع بمدينة جيليزنوجورسك في شرق روسيا.
وتضم مجموعة الأقمار الصناعية الروسية الآن نحو 100 قمر صناعي يمكن أن تستخدم سلميا وعسكريا.

Europe Picks Mobile Sat Service Suppliers

PARIS - The European Commission (EC) has selected Inmarsat Ventures Ltd. and Solaris Mobile Ltd. to provide hybrid mobile satellite services (MSS) across the European Union (EU).
The selection completes a process begun in August 2008 that culminated in the short-listing of four candidates in December. However, operating licenses for specific radio frequencies for the 18-year period of the approval still must be granted by individual EU nation states. The EC has given the two suppliers 24 months to begin commercial service.
Solaris, a joint venture of SES Astra and Eutelsat, has already begun trials of its system, which will use an S-band payload on Eutelsat's W2A, launched in early April. Alfa trials are planned and the company says the investment so far - 150 million euros ($203 million) - is enough to get the system into operation. However, further outlays will be necessary for terrestrial towers, which are used to augment satellite coverage indoors and in other hard-to-reach locations. These are to be funded through partners.
Inmarsat has acquired a spacecraft from Thales Alenia Space, subject to EC approval.
The two eliminated candidates, TerreStar and ICO Global Communications, both are already engaged in North American hybrid MSS projects. TerreStar had placed a preliminary order with Astrium. ICO had not made satellite arrangements, but instead had sued the EC for alleged failure to respect a prior medium Earth orbit MSS filing from the International Telecommunications Union. However, the validity of the filing for its satellite, which is only in partial use, is unclear.

سجيل 2 صاعقة تذهل الصهاينة و حماتهم عن التفكير بأي عمل عسكري ضد طهران

في استعراض جديد لقوتها العسكرية ، اعلن الرئيس الايراني محمود احمدي نجاد الاربعاء ان بلاده اختبرت بنجاح صاروخ ارض ارض يبلغ مداه 2000 كم.
ونقلت شبكة سي ان ان الاخبارية الاميركية عن نجاد القول خلال زيارته لاقليم "سمنان" شمالي ايران ان القوات المسلحة الايرانية اختبرت بنجاح صاروخ ارض-ارض متطورا يحمل اسم "سجيل 2" ، موضحا انه ينتمي الى جيل جديد من الصواريخ الايرانية المتطورة وتم اطلاقه بنجاح واصاب هدفه بدقة.
واضاف ان صاروخ سجيل 2 من الجيل المتطور لصواريخ ارض-ارض الايرانية ويصل مداه الى 2000 كم ويعمل بوقود صلب ضمن مرحلتين خلافا لصاروخ "شهاب 3" الذي يعمل بالوقود السائل وفي مرحلة واحدة.
ويرى مراقبون ان تلك التجربة الصاروخية الناجحة تضع الكيان الاسرائيلي وجنوب شرقي اوروبا في مرمى نيران الجمهورية الاسلامية ، ويبدو انها رسالة تحذير واضحة للكيان الاسرائيلي من مغبة التفكير في شن عمل عسكري منفرد ضد طهران ، خاصة بعد رفض الرئيس الاميركي باراك اوباما ضغوط رئيس الحكومة الالكيان الاسرائيليية بنيامين نتنياهو للقيام بمثل هذا العمل العسكري .
افشال اوباما لمطامع نتنياهو
وكان نتنياهو سعى خلال زيارته لواشنطن في 18 مايو/ ايار للحصول على الضوء الاخضر من اوباما لضرب ايران ، الا ان وسائل الاعلام الاميركية اكدت فشل تلك المهمة مسبقا بل وفجرت مفاجاة مفادها ان اوباما سبب مازقا كبيرا لنتنياهو الذي طالما اظهر نفسه على الشخص الوحيد القادر على ازالة ما اسماه الخطر الايراني.
فقد كشفت مجلة "التايم" ان نتنياهو حاول اقناع اوباما بان تحقيق واشنطن لاهدافها في المنطقة يمر عبر لجم الطموح النووي الايراني قبيل النظر في الصراع الفلسطيني ضد الكيان الاسرائيليي ، مستندا لمزاعم حول ان هناك بعض الدول العربية التي ترى في ايران تهديدا لاستقرار المنطقة ، كما ان دعم ايران لحركة حماس التي تسيطر على قطاع غزة هو مبرر قوي لرفضه المضي قدما في عملية السلام حتى ازاحة ايران جانبا.
بل ان نتنياهو طالب واشنطن ايضا بتحديد جدول زمني امام ايران للتجاوب مع المطالب الدولية في محاولة لمنعها من كسب المزيد من الوقت لرفع قدراتها النووية ، محذرا من ان كيانه الاسرائيلي مستعدة لضرب المنشات النووية حال فشل المساعي الدبلوماسية.
وفي المقابل ، جادل اوباما بان حشد العالم لمواجهة المطامح الايرانية يتطلب حل الصراع الفلسطيني مع الكيان الاسرائيليي في المقام الاول، مشيرا الى ان عرض المفاوضات وان كان لن يظل مفتوحا الى ما لا نهاية امام الجمهورية الاسلامية، الا انه سيسمح بالمزيد من الوقت لاتاحة المجال لنجاح الدبلوماسية.
هذا الموقف الاميركي يؤكد مدى حرص ادارة اوباما على الحوار مع ايران للحصول على مساعدتها في افغانستان والعراق ، ويبدو ان الامر لايرجع لاسباب سياسية فقط وانما لمبررات عسكرية ايضا حيث استبعد افريم كام خبير الشؤون الاستراتيجية بمعهد ابحاث الامن القومي التابع لجامعة تل ابيب امكانية موافقة واشنطن على شن الكيان الاسرائيلي لهذا الهجوم ، مؤكدا ان المؤسسة الدفاعية الاميركية تشكك في احتمالات نجاح تلك العملية ، كما ان نتائج هذا الهجوم سوف يرجئ فقط البرنامج الايراني لمدة تتراوح بين عامين الى اربعة اعوام.
أمتناع روسيا عن المساومة
وبجانب الرفض الاميركي ، فان روسيا هى الاخرى تعارض بشدة مثل هذا الامر ، حيث اكد وزير الخارجية الروسي سيرجى لافروف في 16 ابريل/ نيسان ان موسكو لن تغير سياساتها ومواقفها ازاء طهران من اجل ارضاء واشنطن وتل ابيب ، قائلا :" ايران بلد جار وبامكانه ان يؤدي دورا هاما في حل المشكلات الدولية ومن بينها قضايا العراق وافغانستان والشرق الاوسط".
وفي 28 مارس / اذار ، اكد الرئيس الروسي ديمتري ميدفيديف ايضا ان موسكو غير مستعدة لابرام صفقة مع واشنطن او اية عاصمة غربية اخرى بشان البرنامج النووي الايراني ، موضحا ان التقارير التي تتحدث عن عقد موسكو صفقة مع واشنطن حول البرنامج النووي الايراني لا اساس لها من الصحة .
هذا الموقف الروسي يبرره البعض بعمق العلاقات بين موسكو وطهران وتصاعد قوة الاخيرة على الصعيد العسكري والتكنولوجي في الفترة الاخيرة بشكل اذهل العالم، بالاضافة الى حاجة موسكو لايران وسوريا للعودة بقوة للشرق الاوسط بجانب ابتزاز واشنطن في العديد من القضايا الشائكة وخاصة جورجيا وتوسع الناتو باتجاه حدودها، ولعل التصريحات التي خرجت من موسكو في الشهور الاخيرة تؤكد ان ايران باتت تشكل ورقة رابحة لموسكو ولن تتخلى عنها بسهولة وكل ما تستطيع ان تقدمه من تنازلات هو القيام فقط بوساطة بين طهران وواشنطن، ففي 27 مارس / اذار ، اعربت روسيا عن استعدادها لتنظيم اجتماع يضم مسؤولين اميركيين وايرانيين في موسكو على هامش المؤتمر الدولي حول افغانستان.
توالي الانجازات العسكرية المتتالية
واخيرا ، هناك التطور المتصاعد في القوة العسكرية الايرانية والذي يؤكد ان ايران على استعداد للتصدي لاي هجوم الكيان الاسرائيليي ، ففي 3 فبراير/ شباط 2009 وخلال احتفالها بالذكرى الثلاثين للثورة الاسلامية ، فاجئت ايران العالم بالاعلان عن اطلاق اول قمر صناعي من صنع محلي ، مشيرة الى ان الصاروخ "سفير 2" وضع القمر "اميد" في مدار حول الارض على ارتفاع 430 ميلا.
واشنطن التي شككت في السابق في قدرة ايران على تحقيق هذا الامر ، سارعت الى تاكيد صحة اعلان ايران ، واعلن الناطق باسم وزارة الدفاع الاميركية روبرت رود ان واشنطن تشعر بـ"قلق عميق" لهذا الواقع، مضيفا ان الصواريخ من طراز " سفير 2 " قادرة على حمل رؤوس حربية غير تقليدية لمدى بعيد ، كما ان تطوير هذا الصاروخ لاطلاق قمر صناعي الى مدار حول الارض قد يؤدي الى تطوير نظام صواريخ بعيد المدى .
ولم تكتف بما سبق ، بل ان الرئيس الايراني محمود احمدي نجاد اعلن في 9 ابريل / نيسان ان بلاده انجزت المرحلة الاخيرة من دورة التخصيب النووي ، مشيرا الى انها تشغل حاليا 7000 الاف جهاز طرد مركزي لانتاج الوقود النووي.
واضاف في خطاب القاه في مدينة اصفهان خلال احتفال ايران باليوم الوطني للتقنية النووية السلمية ان طهران اختبرت نوعين جديدين من اجهزة الطرد المركزي على مقدرة اعلى لتخصيب اليورانيوم وانتاج الوقود النووي ، مشددا على ان الاجهزة الجديدة تتميز بانها اسرع بعدة مرات من تلك المستخدمة في طهران وانها انجزت كل مراحل التصنيع النووي.
ولتاكيد الانجازات السارة السابقة ، اعلن عن افتتاح اول مصنع لانتاج الوقود النووي في مدينة اصفهان، مما يتيح للجمهورية الاسلاميةالايرانية القدرة على انتاج دورة الوقود لمفاعلاتها النووية بالاستعانة بالخبرات المحلية ودون الحاجة الى مساعدات فنية خارجية.
وعلق مستشار وزير الخارجية الايراني لشؤون اسيا حسين نوش ابادي على التطورات السابقة ، قائلا :" تصريحات نجاد ستحطم غطرسة الدول المعارضة للجمهورية الاسلامية الايرانية بما فيها اوروبا والولايات المتحدة ".
ما سبق يؤكد ان ايران تبدو وكانها تستشعر الخطر بالفعل ولذا بدات في اظهار قدراتها الواحدة تلو الاخرى لردع الاحتلال الإسرائيلي ودفع الولايات المتحدة الأميركية للاسراع في اجراء حوار معها .
وتبقى الحقيقة المؤكدة وهى ان اي عمل عسكري للكيان الاسرائيلي ضد الجمهورية الاسلامية الايرانية أصبح وهما لن يرى النور سواء بدون أو مع دعم أميركي ، وهذا ما حققته طهران مما قوى من شكيمتها ونقلها الى بر الامن و الامان من كيد الحاسدين .

Iran claims missile test with Europe in range

EUOBSERVER/BRUSSELS – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claimed to have sucessfully tested another ballistic missile capable of reaching Europe.
Speaking in the northern Iranian city of Semnan, where the Sajil-2 missile was allegedly test-fired, Mr Ahmadinejad said the blast was a success and "met the predetermined target." If its alleged range of almost 2,000 kilometers is true, the missile could reach Athens, southern Italy and the Black Sea coast of new EU members Romania and Bulgaria.
A similar test was carried out in November, while in February Iran launched a domestically-made satellite that prompted France and Great Britain to express their concerns over the missile capabilities of the Islamic state.
Israel, also a nuclear power, said Wednesday's test should be more of a concern to Europe, since previous missiles tested by Iran could already reach the Jewish state.
With presidential elections scheduled for 12 June, the test could also be read as part of Mr Ahmadinejad's re-election campaign, as three other contenders have been approved by Iran's electoral council.(Source: EU Observer/By Valentina Pop)

Report says military satellite gaps exist

WASHINGTON — Poor planning and unproven technologies on key Pentagon space programs have led to large cost overruns, delays and possible gaps in military satellite capabilities, according to US congressional investigators.
Delays of at least seven years in some satellite programs have led to potential gaps in protected military communications, navigation tools, missile warning systems and other areas, a Government Accountability Office official told lawmakers Wednesday.
“Programs focus on advocacy at the expense of realism and sound management,” Cristina Chaplain, director of acquisition and sourcing for the GAO, said in testimony prepared for a Senate Armed Services subcommittee. “This year it is also becoming more apparent that space acquisition problems are leading to potential gaps in the delivery of critical capabilities.”
The GAO examined seven major space programs including Boeing Co.’s Global Positioning System and a communication satellite built by Lockheed Martin Corp. The estimated costs of those programs have increased by $10.9 billion from initial estimates for fiscal years 2008 through 2013.
The Pentagon’s tendency to underestimate costs while including ambitious requirements and new, unproven technologies caused the significant cost growth and schedule delays, Chaplain said.
Because of excessive costs, the Pentagon had to scrap programs in development including a competition between Boeing and Lockheed to build a $26 billion transformational satellite designed to provide military communications.
Gary Payton, deputy under secretary of the Air Force for space programs, said while the Pentagon has faced significant challenges in its space acquisitions, it is also making significant progress.
Navy Vice Adm. Harry Harris, deputy chief of naval operations for communication networks, said the service “is critically dependent on space to conduct not only our wartime mission, but also our core capabilities.”

اطلاق قمر صناعي أمريكي بصاروخ روسي لخدمة القطاع الاسيوي للاتصالات

موسكو في 16 مايو أطلق اليوم من مطار بايكونور في كازاخستان بواسطة الصاروخ الروسي " بروتون" القمر الصناعي للاتصالات "بروتوستار – 2" الذي سيقدم الخدمات الى عدة بلدان اسيوية.
وذكر مصدر في مؤسسة خرونيتشيف لصناعة الاجهزة الفضائية ان القمر الصناعي بلغ المدار المقرر له بعد انفصاله عن وحدة التسارع " بريز-م " في حوالي الساعة الثانية بعد ظهر اليوم.

"الفلسطينية" قناة فضائية جديدة لحركة فتحAl-Philistinia, New Satellite Channel Run by Fatah

القاهرة - بترا - اعلن السفير الفلسطيني في القاهرة ومندوبها الدائم لدى جامعة الدول العربية نبيل عمرو عن بدء بث قناة "الفلسطينية" الفضائية على قمر النايل سات المصري. وقال ان القناة ستكون قناة الوحدة الوطنية الفلسطينية يتحدد التزامها السياسي ببرنامج منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية وستكون مفتوحة للرأي والرأي الآخر. وقال عمرو للصحافيين ان معالجة القناة للقضايا السياسية ستتم في اطار الالتزام بالمبادرة العربية للسلام وقرارات الإجماع العربي وميثاق الشرف المهني الذي يحرم التخوين والتهديد وطرح الأجندات غير الوطنية الفلسطينية.واضاف عمرو الذي اسندت حركة فتح اليه ادارة القناة ، انها ستبث برامجها على مدار 24 ساعة وانه فتح مكاتب لها في عمان والقاهرة وبيروت.
Cairo - Petra -A new Palestinian channel to begin broadcasting at the Egypt satellite NileSat according to the Palestinian ambassador in Cairo who heads the permanent delegate to the League of Arab States Nabil Amr. Amr Added that the channel will be committed to Palestinian national unity and determined to run neutral political programs with respect to the Palestinian Liberation Organization charter and will be open to different opinions. The canal will honor the Arab peace initiative and the decisions of the Arab consensus and the professional code of ethics which prohibits the threat, mistrust, and wasting time over non-Palestinian national agendas, Amr told reporters. Amr said that Fatah movement assigned him to run the channel which will transmit its programs 24 hours 7 days a week. Offices in Amman, Cairo and Beirut were licensed and already open.

Canada: CRTC grants short licence renewals to private TV broadcasters

Citing the current troubled economy, Canada's broadcast regulator has decided to grant short-term licence renewals for many of the country's private broadcasters.
As part of its decision, selected details of which the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission released on Friday, the regulator has rejected increasing Canadian content spending — for now — and postponed a decision regarding the controversial carriage fees debate.
"We are making our initial determinations public to provide a measure of guidance to conventional broadcasters as they prepare for the upcoming broadcast year and embark on program purchases," CRTC chair Konrad von Finckenstein said in a statement.
"In the case of the large networks, we have opted for shorter licence terms to give these broadcasters some flexibility during the current period of economic uncertainty."
The CRTC has granted one-year renewals for CTV, Canwest, Sun TV and Rogers Communications-operated Citytv stations. TVA stations will be renewed for two-years.
Omni stations, also operated by Rogers, received a six-year renewal, while RNC Media and Télé Inter-Rives stations are renewed for a full seven-year period.
All renewals take effect on Sept. 1, with specific terms and conditions for each to be made public in the coming weeks, the CRTC said. (Source: www.cbc.ca)

U.S. Lawmakers Look to Label Satellite Providers Terrorists

Two U.S. congressmen have proposed legislation to label satellite providers of incendiary TV stations as terrorist organizations -- the latest attempt by lawmakers to prevent radical anti-American propaganda from hitting the airwaves, even abroad.

The bill, authored by Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., and Rep. Joseph Crowley, D-N.Y., seeks to punish satellite companies that carry channels that are mouthpieces for known terrorist groups like Hezbollah and Hamas -- stations they say incite their audiences to commit acts of terrorism against the United States.

قمر صناعي قطري لمنافسة نايل سات

يبدو أن الحكومات العربية قررت نقل صراعاتها من الأرض إلى الفضاء، حيث كشفت مصادر مطلعة في الدوحة أن قطر تدرس حاليا إطلاق قمر صناعي ينافس نايل سات وعربسات ويمثل شبكة أمان لقناة الجزيرة في حال قررت القاهرة إزالتها من نايلسات.
وفي السياق ذاته ، صرح الإعلامي المصري حمدي قنديل لصحيفة "القدس العربي" بأن الحكومة المصرية وجهت إنذارا لقناتي "المنار" في شهر إبريل الماضي و"نيوتي في" في شهر فبراير الماضي بإزالتهما من قمر النايل سات إذا قررتا استضافة برنامج "قلم رصاص " الذي يقدمه.

نايلسات وعربسات على قائمة الارهاب الأمريكية

قدم نواب بمجلس الشيوخ الأمريكي في 10 مايو بمشروع قانون يطالب إدارة الرئيس باراك أوباما بوضع أربع فضائيات عربية ضمن المنظمات "الإرهابية" الدولية ومراجعة علاقة الولايات المتحدة مع الدول التي ترعى هذه القنوات.
ووصف مشروع القانون الذى تقدم به النائب الجمهوري جس بيليراكيس والنائب الديمقراطي جوزيف كراولي عددا من القنوات الفضائية العربية بأنها تبث التحريض على العنف ضد الولايات المتحدة والأمريكيين ومنها قناة المنار اللبنانية، والأقصى الفلسطينية، والزوراء والرافدين العراقيتان، وجميعها تبث على القمر الاصطناعي المصري "نايل سات" ، والقمر العربي "عرب سات".
وأضاف أن قناة المنار والأقصى والزوراء تبث موادا إعلامية تحرض على العنف ضد الولايات المتحدة والأمريكيين وتساعد المنظمات "الإرهابية" الخارجية فى تنفيذ عملياتها وتجمع التبرعات والدعاية لهذه المنظمات ، مطالبا إدارة أوباما بأن تصنف في قائمتها للمنظمات الإرهابية مانحي خدمة القمر الاصطناعي المتعاقدة مع قنوات المنار والأقصى والرافدين والزوراء أو أي محطة أخرى تملكها أو تشغلها منظمات تصنفها الولايات المتحدة كمنظمات "إرهابية".
وحث أيضا على ضرورة إتخاذ إجراءات عقابية ضد مانحي خدمات القمر الاصطناعي الذين يبثون قنوات المنار والأقصى والرافدين والزوراء أ و أي محطة أخرى يملكها ويشغلها "إرهابيون" ، داعيا الرئيس أوباما إلى تقديم تقرير للكونجرس عن التحريض على العنف ضد الولايات المتحدة في الشرق الأوسط.
ورغم أن أعضاء الكونجرس الموالين لإسرائيل اعتادوا في السابق انتقاد المحطات العربية، إلا أن هذه تعتبر المرة الأولى التي ينتقل فيها الانتقاد إلى الأقمار الصناعية وموفري خدمة بث المحطات ، وفي حال كهذا فإن الفضائيات العربية وخاصة السياسية منها بات أمامها خيار واحد إما التراجع عن مهاجمة إسرائيل وأمريكا أو التعرض لخطر الإغلاق.

ايران تجري ابحاث حول الاقمار الصناعية في ثلاث جامعات

اعلن رئيس منظمة الفضاء الايرانية رضا تقي بوراليوم عن تنفيذ مشروع ابحاث حول الاقمار الصناعية في ثلاث جامعات بالبلاد، وقال ان الجامعات الثلاث: شريف الصناعية وامير كبير وعلم وصنعت تتابع هذا المشروع.
وقال رضا تقي بور ان هذا المشروع هو طور التنفيذ في الجامعات الثلاثة، معربا عن امله بأن يتم التوصل الى النموذج الهندسي خلال سنتي 2009 و2010.
وأضاف تقي بور ان مراحل التصميم النهائي للعديد من اجزاء المنظومة والبرامج قد تم انجازها، موضحا ان تنفيذ المشاريع الفضائية يستغرق وقتا طويلا، مشيرا الى ان روسيا بدأت مشوارها في مجال الاقمار الصناعية منذ 1947 اي اكثر من 60 عاما، بينما لا يبلغ عمر اولى المشاريع الفضائية في ايران اكثر من 12 عاما.
وتابع: ان اقل فترة يمكن احتسابها لتصميم وصنع قمر صناعي صغير تبلغ سنتين، وأكد ان إطلاق الاقمار الصناعية في ايران يتم وفق القوانين العامة للاتحاد العالمي للاتصالات.
ولفت رئيس منظمة الفضاء الايرانية الى ان هناك اتحاد آخر يسمى اتحاد (كوبوس) وهو يضم الدول الاعضاء في اتفاقية كوبوس التي رعتها الامم المتحدة لحماية الفضاء الخارجي، وايران عضو في هذا الاتحاد، مضيفا ان طهران تنسق في إطلاق أقمارها الصناعية مع هذين الاتحادين، وذلك من اجل الحيلولة دون وقوع بعض الحوادث.

UAE media revenues drop $14m in first quarter

Dubai : Figures released at the Arab Media Forum’s opening day suggest that overall media revenues in the UAE dropped by $14 million in the first quarter of 2009 compared to the same period last year.
The two-day forum was inaugurated today by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with Amr Moussa, Secretary General of the Arab League.
By comparison, media organizations in Saudi Arabia reported being $2 million in the black for the same period.
Ranked first in the Middle East – which overall reported $28 million in the black for the first quarter -- the UAE’s media profit figures were still impressive, said panelists, given a world economic downturn that is killing traditional newspapers in the United States.
In total, newspapers in the UAE took in $245 million in the first quarter as compared to lesser media players such as television which reported $40 million in revenues, and magazines that reported $4 million in income.
Radio in the UAE only took in $6 million, according to the forum.
Revenues have dropped as those in the media industry struggle to remain relevant to 300 million residents, many of whom are below the age of 25 and are not part of a generation especially fond of newsprint.
The next generation of consumers is demanding instant electronic news and entertainment online via laptops and handhelds, forcing longstanding media organisations to improve content and diversify dissemination methods.
In a panel session, Gulf News Editor in Chief Abdul Hamid Ahmed said that the sweeping shift has created a crisis for older print media.
“There is a disaster happening in the United States, newspapers are dying,” he told conference delegates in Dubai on Monday in a packed ballroom at a Palm Jumeirah hotel. “Of course we now have a Google generation. That generation has nothing to do with newspapers.”
Ahmad noted that to survive, “we have to switch from (being) a newspaper to a news provider”.
More than 1,000 people – 300 from abroad -- have registered for the two-day conference who will hear roughly 60 speakers.
Mazen Hayek, Marketing Manager of MBC group, said one of the problems in the media industry in the Middle East is the concentration of advertising in only some of the outlets.
He noted that there are more than 450 satellite channels in the region but noted that 50 of them control about 95 per cent of television advertising.
Another challenge, he said, is that advertisers and media professionals view “advertising as an expenditure rather than as an investment…we can’t get readers unless we have that level of investment”.
Azzam Al Dakhil, CEO of the Saudi Research and Marketing Group, said: “We are in need in the Arab world of specialised content,” noting that targeted and focused content allows print for electronic media to “attract advertisers”.
Dakhil pointed out that traditional media players face a new force, telecommunication companies seeking out new subscribers for revolutionary news and entertainment delivery tools of the future such as Mobile TV, live broadcast programming sent to mobile phones.
For example, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has worked to bring mobile TV to new UAE. Subscribers to the new service will be able to secure television programs, including news.
Arab Media Forum continues Tuesday and features one of industry’s top investigative journalists, Seymour Hersh, a Pulitzer Prize winner who will deliver the morning keynote speech.

Inmarsat Launches Faster On-Demand Satellite Streaming Service

It seems it was just yesterday when news correspondents reporting from the new war in Afghanistan use a pair of linked satellite phones to get a 128 Kbps audio-video feed on the air. The picture was passable on TV, as long as the image was shrunk, the speaker didn’t move and there was no activity in the background.

Now, Inmarsat has launched its BGAN X-Stream service, guaranteeing streaming rates from a minimum of 384 Kbps up to 450 Kbps, which the company calls the fastest on-demand streaming rate available in a mobile satellite service, and a boost of more than 50 percent above its previous service.

The near-broadcast quality of the data means broadcasters and others can avoid or lessen reliance on satellite trucks, instead using existing hardware—compact BGAN terminals such as the Hughes HNS9210 and Thrane & Thrane Explorer 700.

BGAN technology is already used by the military and others to get data to and from the battlefield, among other applications. The Inmarsat on-demand service complements existing government satellite capacity, the company said.

The system can also add all kinds of encryption needed for government and military apps.
It became commercially available on the Inmarsat-4 EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Asia) satellite April 20, with deployment globally—the entire planet except for the polar region—in June.

روسيا تطلق في 16 مايو قمراً صناعياً من كازاخستان

موسكو: أعلنت وكالة الفضاء الروسية اليوم الجمعة انها ستطلق صاروخ "بروتون إم" الذي يحمل قمر "بروتوستار 2" الصناعي في 16 ايار/مايو الجاري من قاعد باكونور الفضائية في كازاخستان. وأفادت وكالة الأنباء الروسية (نوفوستي) اليوم أن الهدف من القمر تشغيل أسطول مكوّن من ثلاثة أقمار صناعية ثابتة، لتوفير خدمات البث المباشر لاندونيسيا والهند والفلبين وتايوان.

وكان القمر الصناعي الأول "بروتوستار 1" أطلق في تموز/يوليو الماضي بواسطة صاروخ "آريان 5". وستشرف على عملية إطلاق الصاروخ الشركة الروسية التي تطوّر صواريخ "بروتون" و"أنغارا".

حوار – شريفة الأسمري :
لم يعد الاستثمار في الوقت الحالي محصوراً على الجهات الأربع في الكرة الأرضية بل امتد إلى الفضاء، ليصل الإنسان إلى الاستثمار الفضائي عبر استثمار نقاط فضائية محددة يمتلكها وله حرية التأجير والتمليك، وفي ظل الثورة المعلوماتية أصبحت الحاجة ملحة لمزيد من الأقمار لتلبي التوسع في مجال الاتصال المعلوماتي في هذا الحوار نسلط الضوء على العديد من التساؤلات حول الأقمار الصناعية ومهامها ونتوجه بها للرئيس التنفيذي للمؤسسة العربية للاتصالات الفضائية (عرب سات) المهندس خالد بالخيور فكان لنا معه الحوار التالي:
* كيف كانت بداية فكرة إنشاء هذة المؤسسة الفضائية؟.
- يقول بالخيور: بداية التفكير في إنشاء هذه المؤسسة كانت لربط الدول العربية فيما بينها هاتفيا ،وأنشئت قبل 32سنة تتكون من مساهمة أعضاء الجامعة العربية (كل الدول العربية بلا استثناء)، وتشكل السعودية النسبة الأعلى بنسبة 36% ثم الكويت ثم ليبيا ثم قطر ثم الإمارات ،وهم الأعضاء الدائمين في مجلس إدارة عربسات، ثم يضاف سنويا عضوان الأكثر استخداما يتم ترشيحهما. في كل سنة يقوم عضوان من ناحية الأكثر استخداما لعرب سات وعضوان بحسب الأقدمية وآخر مشاركة لهم في مجلس الإدارة، تجتمع عدة مرات في السنة ممثلين لدول 21 من وزراء الاتصالات في هذه الدول، يرجع الفضل في لتبني فكرة هذه المؤسسة لوزراء الإعلام العرب وترجمها وزراء الاتصالات قبل 32عاما. في هذه السنة يتم الاحتفال باليوبيل الفضي لإطلاق أول قمر قبل 25سنة لعربسات، وتعد عربسات أول منظمة تمتلك قمراً، وقد بلغت الربحية لهذا العام قرابة 160مليون دولار.
* ماهي نقطة التحول المفصلية في مسيرة عربسات؟
- يقول بالخيور: خلال الست سنوات الأخيرة كان هنالك نقلة مفصلية في عربسات تبعا للعديد من العوامل، فقد تم توقيع العديد من العقود خلال الست سنوات الحالية، ففي عام 2004م أطلقت عربسات قمرين من الجيل الرابع ،وفي عام 2006م وقعنا عقدين لأقمار من الجيل الخامس الذي سوف يطلق لهذا العام 2009 و2010م، إما الشهر الماضي فقدتم توقيع عقدين للعام 2011و2012م وذلك لإطلاق قمر كل عام، وكل قمر يحوي من 10- 15قناة تلفزيونية تبعا لضبط كل قناة ونوعيتها، كما تستخدم في شبكات الاتصالات والبث التلفزيوني.
وتأتي قوة المؤسسة من إيراداتها وتمويلها فقد وقعت المؤسسة عقوداً كبيرة.
* لماذا توجهتم لإطلاق قمر كل عام حتى 2012م
- يقول بالخيور: الطلب المتزايد بعد حرب الخليج تحديدا أشعل ثورة في الاتصالات الفضائية أدى بالتفكير في هذه الإستراتيجيات، أما بالنسبة لإطلاق هذه الأقمار كل عام فنتيجة للطلبات على شبكات الاتصالات الأرضية خاصة في الدول العربية في قارة إفريقيا أو غير عربية لربط شبكات الجوال سواء في الوسط والغرب والجنوب بخلاف الدول الخليجية التي تعد الشبكات فيها مكتملة نوعا ما، علما أن هنالك نسبة الزيادة السنوية في النمو في اتصالات المعلوماتية والهاتفية 8% والتلفزيونية 5-7% سنوياً.
* ماهي الضوابط لامتلاك قناة فضائية، أي هل يمكن لشخص عادي امتلاكها؟
- يقول بالخيور: يتحكم في سعر القناة الفضائية عدة عوامل أهمها نوع القناة وسعتها الفضائية يتم تحديدها بالميغا هيرتز بمعنى القنوات التي تحتاج للصوت فقط كالإخبارية والقرآنية فقيمتها تساوي 5و1 ميغاأي حوالي 150-200الف دولار سنويا أما القنوات التي تحتاج الصوت والصورة وتكون حركتها سريعة كالرياضية مثلا فهي أغلى نوعا ما أي تحتاج إلي حوالي 3، 5إلى 4ميغا إي حوالي 350 – 400 ألف دولار سنويا هذا من ناحية السعر، أما امتلاكها فيتحكم فيه مكان بث القناة حيث لابد من أخذ ترخيص من وزارات الإعلام بالدولة نفسها هذا بالنسبة للقنوات التابعة للحكومات إما القنوات الخاصة فلابد من أخذ تراخيص من المدن الإعلامية في الوطن العربي كالقاهرة ودبي وتونس.* ماهي الأطر والقيود التي تتحكم في المواد الإعلامية التي تبث في تلك القنوات؟.
- أصدر وزراء الإعلام العرب مؤخرا مرجعية للمدن الإعلامية ووثيقة على ضوئها يتم التقيد بهذه الوثيقة الإعلامية على الرغم أن بعض الدول من حاول جعلها إجبارية ولكن بعض هذه الدول تحفظت، وهذه القيود سواء أخلاقية أو دينية أو سياسية استنادا للمعايير المقبولة في كل بلد وحرصا على عدم المساس بالذوق العام والرموز الدينية والسياسية والتي تمس الأمن القومي للدول.
إما القنوات التي تبث من الدول العربية فنضع عليها قيود إثناء صياغة العقود فنضع بنوداً صارمة تنبع من الوثيقة التي تم التوقيع عليها من قبل وزراء الإعلام العرب.
* هنالك قنوات بثت ثم تم إغلاقها وأحدثت ضجة إعلامية مثل قنوات السحر والشعوذة ماهي قصتها؟.
- يقول بالخيور: أقول دائما أن عربسات ليست جهة رقابية بل هي مشغل وناقل فضائي، فعندما وقع وزراء الإعلام في الدول العربية على الوثيقة التي تنص على عدد من البنود لابد من الالتزام بها عند إنشاء أي قناة فضائية، بدورنا نقوم نحن عند صياغة العقود نضع قيود صارمة.
الذي حصل مع هذه القنوات أنه وصل إلينا العديد من الاتصالات سواء عن طريق الإيميل او الهاتف للالتفات لهذه القنوات ،وعندما تحققنا من الأمر وجدنا أن العقد المبرم بيننا وبين بعض الشباب في لبنان ولكن تم إعطائه لشباب قبارصة من الباطن وتشغيل القناة من اليونان، فتم إبلاغهم أن هذا الأمر مخالف وإلغاء القنوات.
أما الدول الأكثر تحررا والتي تبث قنوات غير مقبولة في المجتمعات المحافظة فتتم مخاطبتها ودياً للوصول على تسوية معينة.
ويضيف بالخيور: أننا نحاول إن نكون أكثر احتواء وليونة مع العملاء حتى نستوعب اكبر شريحة ممكنة من العملاء، لان سياسة المنع لا تجدي في كثير من الأحيان مالم تنبع الرقابة الذاتية من الشخص نفسه، فلو تم منع هؤلاء سيلجأون لنواقل تكون أكثر حرية وبدون قيود، وبهذا لانستطيع منع الزحف الفضائي مالم تكون هنالك سياسة متوازنة بين المنع والقبول، لذا نحن نلجأ لسن تلك القوانين عند صياغة العقود ليكون عند تجاوز تلك الخطوط أسباب قانونية للمنع، ومع هذا فنحن نفخر أننا نمتلك نسبة مشاهدة عالية في الوطن العربي وخصوصا على القنوات الدينية، والمنع الحقيقي يعود للرقابة الذاتية للفرد مع عصر الثورة المعلوماتية.
* ماهي أجندة عربسات لهذا العام؟.
- يقول بالخيور: أطلقنا باقتين ناطقتين باللغة الفرنسية ومشفرتين تحتويان على 27 قناة منوعة تستهدف المغرب العربي والناطقين باللغة الفرنسية ،كما إن هنالك باقات جديدة للقنوات التلفزيونية للتلفزيون الرقمي العالي الوضوح الذي يشكل دخوله للعالم الرقمي نقلة تاريخية مقاربة لنقلة التلفزيون باللون الأبيض والأسود إلى الملون ،كما يعد البث بالتلفزيون العالي الوضوح والذي تنافس علية عربسات لتكون في المقدمة من المزايا التي تقدمها عربسات لعملائها، كما أننا نعمل مع منظمة إتحاد الدول العربية بتونس، لتسهيل تقديم التلفزيون العالي الوضوح بسعات وتجهيزات وتوعية للمشاهدين خلال هذين العامين.
* ماهي السمة التي تتميز بها عربسات عن بقية النواقل؟.
- يقول بالخيور: تعد التخصصية هي السمة الأبرز لعربسات مثل التخصص في البيئة والمرأة والطب، والقضايا الاجتماعية...الخ.
* ماذا تعني النقاط الفضائية؟.
- يقول بالخيور: أي إن لكل دولة أو قمر مساحة في الفضاء أي على بعد 35ألف كيلومتر من الأرض تقع النقطة 26درجة حيث يوجد لعربسات 3أقمار، وسوف تزداد في المستقبل إن شاء الله إلى ستة أقمار عوضا عن النقاط المخصصة للاتصالات، وسوف نطلب من الاتحاد الدولي للاتصالات نقاطاً جديدة، حيث يتطلب هذا تنسيقاً بيننا وبين دول الجوار لإن هذة المواقع تحجز بأسماء الدول وعادة تكون بدون رسوم إلا إذا رغبت إحدى الدول تأجير موقعها لقنوات أخرى.

Soft Launch For New Car Satellite TV

Vienna, Va. — AT&T CruiseCast, the much-anticipated car satellite system, has soft launched its $1,299 device and service at select retail outlets.
The company is targeting a hard-launch date in early June, although no firm date has been set, said company president Winston Guillory.
The 22-channel satellite-TV service is presently working with “small groups” of car stereo specialists, expediters and distributors to sign up just a few dozen customers to test its distribution, merchandising and promotional network, said Guillory.
The soft launch in late April represents a delay from the company’s original plans for a full launch in March.
Approximately 373 retail, distributor and expediter storefronts have signed up to carry the product although many are not participating in the soft launch, according to a list of retailers on the CruiseCast Web site and TWICE calls to some of those outlets.
Al & Ed’s Autosound said it is taking an aggressive stance and ordered 50 units about two weeks ago and, as of a few days ago, had sold two with little promotion.
“We think it’s a great technology — we wanted to take a position,” said product manager John Haynes. He believes the system is a lower-priced alternative to the KVH DirectTV system, which sells at approximately $3,000.
Crutchfield is taking preorders on its Web site and Car Toys is looking into selling the product, it said. MyerEmco president and COO Gary Yacoubian said the product “will create a ton of buzz,” and the chain will be investigating it over the next few weeks.
ABT Electronics plans to order units next month, again, as a lower-cost alternative to KVH system.
Of those polled, Audio Express seemed the most cautious. “I am still collecting data, but preliminary feedback is that both the price of this unit along with the monthly cost of the limited programming will limit the number of potential customers that will be willing or able to justify this product in these very difficult financial times,” said purchasing director Grant Phillips.
The AT&T CruiseCast system includes a black box the size of a book that hides under the seat of a car and connects to most rear-seat entertainment systems. It has an antenna the size and shape of a bicycle helmet that attaches to the roof by a magnetic mount or a roof rack mount. The unit must be professionally installed and carries a $28/month service fee. No free trials are planned at launch.
AT&T CruiseCast, a joint venture between RaySat and AT&T, is requiring that retailers receive installation training on the device.
To date, the announced content partners for the service are MTV and NBC networks which includes programming such as MTV, COMEDY CENTRAL, Nickelodeon, The N, and NOGGIN. Other channels are expected to be announced totaling 22 video channels and 20 audio channels.
The AT&T CruiseCast service will have competition. Audiovox plans to offer a MediaFLO DTV tuner, at a target price of $599 to $699 (installed) in late September or early October through car dealers with car stereo specialists to follow early next year.
ICO Gobal Communications is also planning a car-TV satellite, and a new mobile DTV standard permitting simulcasts of standard TV shows on mobile devices could reach the market next year by suppliers including Kenwood.

TurkSat 4"تورك سات 4" قمر تركي جديد في سبتمبر 2011

أعلنت وزارة الاتصالات التركية بدء العمل في القمر التركي "تورك سات4" ، وتحديد سبتمبر 2011 موعدا لإطلاقه.

لم يمض الكثير على إطلاق القمر التركي "تورك سات 3" في يونيو 2008، حتى اكتملت سعته الاستيعابية من القنوات. ووردت طلبات من داخل تركيا وخارجها، بإطلاق قمر جديد أكبر حجما وسعة.

وقد قررت وزارة الاتصالات التركية أمس فتح مشروع القمر "تورك سات 4" وطرح مناقصات إنشائه، على أن يتم إطلاقه في سبتمبر 2011. ومن المخطط له أن يشمل القمر الجديد نطاقا جغرافيا واسعا يبدأ من شرق الصين مرورا بدول آسيا الوسطي، ليغطى بعد ذلك القارة الأفريقية.

وجدير بالذكر أن الوزارة أعلنت أيضا أن القمر "تورك سات 5" التي تخطط لإطلاقه عام 2014، سيكون صناعة تركية خالصة، وسيجري تنفيذه بأيدي المهندسين الأتراك.

قمر صناعي لقياس ملوحة البحار والمحيطات

أعلنت وكالة الفضاء الأمريكية "ناسا" إطلاق القمر الصناعي "اكواريوس" لقياس ملوحة البحار والمحيطات في أيار 2010 كأول قمر صناعي تصنعه لقياس ملوحة المحيطات من الفضاء

وتقاس ملوحة البحار بواسطة عينات تجمعها أطقم السفن أو العوامات الآلية والتي أبقت مناطق شاسعة من المحيطات من دون حساب ملوحتها .
ما زالت تأثير ارتفاع متوسط مستوى سطح البحار والمحيطات خلال القرن الماضي لارتفاع حرارة الأرض وذوبان الجليد في القطبين، مجهول على ملوحة المحيطات .
وبحسب الوكالة فإن قياس ملوحة المحيطات " بات مسألة ملحة لأن التحوّلات الكبيرة في معدلات الملوحة قد تسبب مزيداً من الجفاف والفيضانات وحتى ارتفاع معدلات الحرارة في الأرض".
وأعلنت "ناسا” إطلاقها مكوك الفضاء "أتلانتس "في الحادي عشر من الشهر الحالي للفضاء الخارجي لإصلاح تلسكوب الفضاء الأمريكي “هابل” وتهيئته للبقاء في مداره لخمسة أعوام أخرى على الأقل .
حيث سيقوم طاقم المكوك بعد يومين بإصلاح العطب في خمسة جوانب خارجية للتلسكوب بغرض إعادته لكامل قدرته الوظيفية وتوصيل اثنين من الأجهزة العلمية الجديدة وستة " أجهزة توازن" لتثبيت التلسكوب و تركيب ست بطاريات جديدة، ويوضع التلسكوب في التاسع عشر من هذا الشهر بمداره مرة أخرى ليعود المكوك " أتلانتس" للأرض .(المصدر: سيريانيوز)
